GRASP is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, founded in 1983 by concerned individuals who saw the need for counseling and assisting students with scholarships, primarily from low income families, to attend college or trade schools after high school. GRASP employs highly trained and dedicated retired teachers and other professionals who provide one on one student counseling in public
schools, the Boys and Girls Home and other similar organizations where young people need special attention to achieve their potential. Because of the counseling and inspiration of advisors in the schools, GRASP has impacted thousands of youth who may otherwise not considered the possibility of a game plan after high school the student assumed there was no way to fund such an endeavor.
Students, with the essential assistance of their GRASP advisor, navigate the complex and complicated process of college financial aid by accessing federal, state and community resources which are available to many low income and foster care students. Using a step-by-step formula with the students allows the seemingly insurmountable process to be managed and then
motivates a young person to believe that college is possible.
